Ross' Weekly Sip: 2014 Gothic ‘Nevermore’ Pinot Noir
With Halloween right around the corner, I’m very excited for Mike’s to offer a world class, small production Oregon pinot noir that’s perfectly packaged for your holiday party!
Since the label’s inception in 2009, I have been a strong supporter and super-fan of Gothic Wines. It’s not hard to drink the Kool-Aid when the man behind the tasting, blending and overall production of the wine is none other than Joshua Nadel, Master Sommelier and one of the best palates in the industry.
Gothic Wines was started as a dream of offering top notch, food friendly wine featuring only Burgundian varietals and highlighting old vine vineyards of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. As the name might suggest, Gothic Wines sports a very Halloween-esque, Edgar Allen Poe themed packaging. Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are offered as blends and as single vineyard, sub-AVA bottlings. For the month of October, Mike’s will be offering the ‘Nevermore’ Willamette Valley Pinot Noir for $19.99, a normal retail of $25.
While I can write all day about how great these wines are, I’d love for you all come find out for yourself. I’m very pleased to offer a free tasting to all of our loyal Mike’s customers. We have teamed up with Appellation Fine Wines to offer casual tastings at our Brookside and Westport location, this Friday, October 26th from 5-7 pm. We will be featuring the Ophelia Chardonnay as well as the Nevermore, Eldritch and Maelstrom Pinot Noir. Hope to see you there!
