Lambic Tasting on April 9, 2019

Hello!  Spring is finally here, and I’d say that calls for a beer!  We’ve had several new arrivals this past week, including favorites such as Evil Twin, Stillwater, Abomination, Logboat, and Offshoot Brewing (a new project of  The Bruery.) Drop by and check ‘em out!

We’ve also posted a couple times about a recent influx of lambic beer from Drie Fonteinen.  Lambic is the oldest style of beer still produced commercially. It is also a deep rabbit hole of nerdom, and one that certainly has had me firmly in its grasp for several years now.  So, let’s talk about lambic, eh?!

Tuesday April 9th in the Brookside tasting room, I’ll be holding a sit-down lambic class/tasting. I’ll be talking about the history of the style, the spontaneous fermentation that is the cornerstone of its production, the varied subsets of the style, as well as plenty of other nerdy anecdotal ramblings.  

I’ll be opening bottles of the recent deliveries of Drie Fonteinen’s Oude Geuze and Cuvee Armand & Gaston, as well as a bottle of their Oude Geuze from 2016 for age comparison. I’ll also be opening a few other varied examples, from a range of producers and blenders. We’ll have bottles from the recent Drie Fonteinen delivery available for purchase, including a few bottles of Hommage.
